The highly specialised family business has been commissioned by the Turkish monument authority to protect the mausoleum of founding statesman Mustafa Kemal Atat\u00fcrk from dirt and damage using a novel surface-finishing process.<\/p>\n<p>Das 1953, f\u00fcnfzehn Jahre nach Atat\u00fcrks Tod, fertiggestellte Grabmal z\u00e4hlt zu den bedeutendsten Bauwerken der T\u00fcrkei und zog allein im vergangenen Jahr mehr als 12,5 Millionen Besucher an. Zur Anlage geh\u00f6ren mehrere Museen, in denen auch pers\u00f6nliche Gegenst\u00e4nde des \u201eVaters der T\u00fcrken\u201c ausgestellt sind, von denen einige ebenfalls von Nanopool behandelt werden.<\/p>\n<p>Das saarl\u00e4ndische Unternehmen wird rund 750.000 Quadratmeter Fl\u00e4che mit einer ultrad\u00fcnnen Schicht aus fl\u00fcssigem Siliziumdioxid (Quarzsand) veredeln, die speziell f\u00fcr die Anforderungen der Denkmalpflege entwickelt wurde. Die 260 Meter lange sogenannte L\u00f6wenstra\u00dfe sowie zahlreiche Skulpturen und S\u00e4ulen aus wei\u00dfem Kalkstein wurden bereits behandelt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eJahrzehntelang haben wir weltweit nach geeigneten Produkten zum Schutz unserer antiken St\u00e4tten gesucht \u2013 jetzt haben wir eine L\u00f6sung, die unseren sehr hohen Anspr\u00fcchen gerecht wird\u201c, sagt Halil Eskici, Arch\u00e4ologe an der Universit\u00e4t Izmir und Generalkoordinator des Projekts.<\/p>\n<p>Nanopool hat inzwischen auch Teile einer Ausgrabungsst\u00e4tte in Zentralanatolien veredelt. Dort erhielten 4.000 Jahre alte Lehmziegel eine Schutzschicht. \u201eUnser Ziel ist es, m\u00f6glichst viele der mehr als 130 arch\u00e4ologischen Ausgrabungen in der T\u00fcrkei auf diese Weise zu sch\u00fctzen\u201c, erkl\u00e4rt Eskici. Nanopool-Gesch\u00e4ftsf\u00fchrer Sascha Schwindt ist \u00fcberzeugt, dass die Technologie aus dem Saarland schon sehr bald an vielen weiteren Orten zum Einsatz kommen wird: \u201eMit unseren
