BACTERLON TECHNOLOGY – LIQUID GLASS AGAINST HOSPITAL GERMS
A new expert scientific report fuels hope of lasting successes in the fight against dangerous germs in hospitals which, following the death of several premature babies at a hospital in Bremen, are once again hitting the headlines. In light of a dramatic increase in the number of infections caused by MRSA pathogens in Germany, the qualified biologist Dr. Thomas Jahns presented a research paper in which he analysed the “potential of antimicrobially effective surfaces for reducing the transfer of pathogens”.
Dr. Jahns comes to the conclusion that the “Bacterlon®” technology, which was developed by the company Nanopool that specialises in surface finishing, can significantly improve the level of protection from pathogens. “In summary, it can be concluded from the numerous expert reports and studies which were carried out and submitted in different clinics, medical practices, care homes, but also independent laboratories, that the Bacterlon® technology can make a significant contribution to reducing the rate of contact infections,” writes Dr. Jahns in his assessment.
Only recently two scientific studies in Germany and Canada once again confirmed the effectiveness of the “Bacterlon®” technology in providing protection from bacteria. “It fills us with great pride that with our technology we are able to make a contribution to preserving the health of many people,” said Nanopool® managing director Sascha Schwindt after the publication of the results of two long-term studies carried out in an old people’s home in the town of Nalbach in Germany’s Saarland state and at a hospital of the Canadian capital of Ottawa. Scientists managed to prove that there was a reduction in various bacteria of 69 to 100 per cent. It was also established that the finished surfaces are easier to clean and costs are therefore saved.
Federal Minister of Health Daniel Bahr (FDP) was interested in the proven effectiveness of the “Bacterlon®” technology during a visit to the Nanopool headquarters in Schwalbach.
