Nanopool GmbH receives International Environmental Award

Hülzweiler/London. It’s a great honour for Nanopool GmbH of Hülzweiler to receive another prestigious award: The family business, founded in 2002 has been presented with the “2008 Green Apple Award” for the highly innovative use of liquid glass nano layering as a protective treatment for plants. The presentation of this award, which is sponsored by The Green Organisation takes place on Monday, 10th November in the House of Commons, London.

This is the third international award which Nanopool has received within the last year.
Managing Director, Sascha Schwindt, feels that this award is an additional confirmation that SiO2 nano layering technology is, without doubt, one of the most significant technologies to have emerged in recent years “The award is recognition of our commitment to developing a technology which is of enormous significance and which will protect our environment and which will help all members of the world community.”

Nanopool will be presented with the award for its research, associated with accelerating the growth of cereals and tomatoes by coating seeds with an ultra-thin protective layer of glass. The non-toxic coating, that is also added to such diverse products as ketchup and medication, prevents mould, bacteria and insects from attacking seeds and so removes the need for the use of pesticides, whilst seeds are germinating.
As Sascha Schwindt notes, „It is expected that our technology will increase yields and reduce the need for environmentally damaging substances“,

750 leading organisations from all over the world were nominated for the 2008 “Green Apple Award”.
