A major retail chain is now testing the coating technology Bacterlon<\/em><em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em><em> on contact surfaces as an addition to its hygiene measures.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wanneer personeelsuitval door corona- en griepziekten bedrijven tot het uiterste drijft en klanten hun tijd in winkels opnieuw tot het hoogstnoodzakelijke beperken, zijn aanvullende hygi\u00ebnemaatregelen gevraagd. Naast bescherming door mondkapjes spelen ook contactoppervlakken een centrale rol. Intensievere reinigings- en desinfectiecycli leggen echter op tijdrovende en kostbare wijze beslag op waardevolle middelen, want het steeds herhaalde reinigen en desinfecteren van contactoppervlakken is een schoolvoorbeeld van een sisyfusarbeid: hernieuwde kolonisatie en verspreiding van kiemen is op elk moment mogelijk, vooral tijdens het virusseizoen in herfst en winter.<\/p>\n<p>Een grote supermarktketen in Europa is daarom een pilottoepassing gestart die zich richt op contactoppervlakken: het doel is de hechting van micro-organismen op oppervlakken te verminderen met een ultradunne functionele laag die is ontwikkeld door het Duitse familiebedrijf Nanopool.<\/p>\n<p>The coating Bacterlon<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> is designed to give surfaces repellent properties and to reduce the adhesion of dirt and germs. Bacterlon<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> does not replace prescribed cleaning, disinfection and hygiene measures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results of the pilot application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a first step, test surfaces in a store of the European food retailer were coated with Bacterlon<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. Those responsible at the retail chain had the relevant areas tested for bacteria using contact plate tests both before and after the treatment. An independent laboratory found that the detectable germ count was not only many times lower after the treatment than before, but that it had even dropped significantly again around six weeks after coating. In the contact plate tests, the detected bacterial count on the treated test surfaces was up to 99% lower.
