Withered harvests and pest plagues are a depressing everyday reality in countless countries, including in Europe. And after the harvest, mold during transport and storage repeatedly means that food has to be destroyed before consumption.<\/p>\n<p>Als de wereldbevolking groeit terwijl het klimaat tegelijkertijd verder verslechtert, zullen voedseltekorten ongetwijfeld bovenaan de lijst van gevolgen staan.<\/p>\n<p>But how can we secure abundant harvests without burdening the environment \u2013 and ultimately ourselves \u2013 with toxins? Is there even such a thing as <strong>gentle crop protection<\/strong> that works reliably and, above all, without side effects?<\/p>\n<p>Of het nu gaat om fungiciden, herbiciden of insecticiden: de conventionele aanpak is er meestal op gericht schadelijke invloeden uit te schakelen. Zou anders denken niet betekenen dat we de plant beschermen in plaats van de plaag aan te vallen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gentle crop protection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Een kort uitstapje naar de bosbouw: &#8220;draadbroeken&#8221; worden de omhulsels genoemd waarmee jonge bomen in het bos tegen vraatzuchtig wild worden beschermd. Hetzelfde fysische principe in een kleinere variant zou ideaal zijn voor de akkerbouw, maar natuurlijk kan niet elke graanaar in een beschermhuls worden gestoken.<\/p>\n<p>Of toch wel?<\/p>\n<p>Als het mogelijk zou zijn sier- en nutsgewassen te omhullen met een beschermlaag die enerzijds fysiek beschermt tegen plagen, maar ook tegen uv-straling en andere stressfactoren, en die anderzijds niet werkt door organismen te doden, zou een enorme stap worden gezet in de strijd tegen misoogsten en honger.<\/p>\n<p>Zou, kon, misschien?<\/p>\n<p>Bij Nanopool is precies dat al lang mogelijk!
