Nanopool coats McDonald’s restaurant in Salzburg

The environmentally friendly surface coating using sol-gel nanotechnology reduces maintenance costs by up to 40 percent.

For the first time, Nanopool GmbH in Salzburg has coated the surfaces of an entire McDonald’s branch. The surface coating process developed by Nanopool GmbH using sol-gel technology provides these surfaces antimicrobial properties and makes them easier to clean. Dirt no longer sticks as easily, and the coating also protects against mould and bacteria. As a result, the use of chemicals and cleaning agents is reduced by up to 40%.

In the Salzburg McDonald’s branch, the glass of windows and galleries, plastic flooring, porcelain tiles, the plastic and ceramic in the toilets, the stainless steel kitchen, the kitchen floor, and the tables were coated.

NP® nanotechnology in the household, hotel, and catering industries is not about tiny robots tidying up the house like modern electronic elves. Primarily, it involves very thin layers that act like an invisible protective film applied to various surfaces. They are invisible because they are hundreds of times thinner than a human hair, and the layer cannot be felt either. However, you can see what it can achieve.

Surfaces in the kitchen that come into contact with food can be treated with the NP® layer for easier cleaning and improved hygiene. For surfaces that require special hygiene, such as toilet seats, there is also an antibacterial version of the nano-layer.

Applying the nano-layer is also very simple. Just spray it on, rub it with a cloth to ensure the surface is evenly coated, let it dry, and the surface is protected for many months and permanently easy to clean. The nano-layers from NP® are not only environmentally neutral, but are also essentially made from sand and returned to the natural cycle with the lifecycle of the products they treat. The products of Nanopool GmbH have been rigorously tested. No other products worldwide, based on the principle of ultra-thin layers, have been scrutinized by external laboratories and institutes as extensively as those from Nanopool.
